i will tolerate ANY kind of bad writing. like I read sometimes, and I’ll put up with anything. I’ll pick up some garbage book - you know, I don’t wanna name an actual book so let’s just make one up, let’s call it “mockingjay.” so i’ll buy a copy of “mockingjay” and i’ll open it up and i’ll go, “can i get a story about this traumatized woman finding agency and power in her own way?” and they go, “no. we’re going to create a false equivalency between the authoritarian government and the people organizing in opposition to them.” and I go “okay!” and then i skip a couple chapters. and then i start reading again and I go, “any updates?” and it goes, “yeah, we made gale a murderous hospital-bomber and war criminal while you weren’t looking. because we hate you. now take this wedding scene, go fetch!” and I go, “okaaaay!” and i read the wedding scene and then i go, “can i get some character development for peeta?” and it goes, “NO!” and i go, “okaaay,” and it goes, “you’re reading this for the love triangle, aren’t you?” and i go, “nooo” and it goes, “SAY IT!” and i go, “i’m reading this for the love triangle,” and then I finish up with mockingjay’s resolution, which is an oxymoron, and i go, “can i please get a meaningful portrayal of this traumatized woman finding agency and peace?” and the book goes, “NO! in fact, she’s gonna end up with the guy she was forced to pretend to love for three years in a ritualistic capitalist blood sport! and he’s gonna pressure her into having kids that she doesn’t want because the mantle of motherhood is something she heavily associates with her trauma! and she’s gonna raise them in the bombed remains of her hometown while her male best friend goes to have an actual say in the reformation of the country!” and i go, “why are you doing this to me?” and it goes, “because this is Mockingjay (2010) by suzanne collins, and life is a FUCKING NIGHTMARE!”

To be honest as a drawing, this isn’t a piece im fully happy with, but working on this zine happened to overlap with a HUGE amount of difficulty in my life, so I’m honestly just glad I was still able to make this project come to fruition
